My second to last post on Kyoto, to share the world of casual & retro Japanese lunches, and some others.
Pic 1-2 : Lovely retro “Westerm meal set”. These style was the mainstream before stylish casual Italian / cafe-ish French / cool organic lunch plates were introduced (around 1980s?). Rice on smaller plate, main dish on the bigger plate.. Tonkatsu (pork cutlet) with demi-glace sauce, coleslaw cabbage, with mayo spagetti salad seasoned with curry powder (so so retro!!). They would often include miso soup in the set😂
Pic 3-7: Old school udon/soba shop… I wish to have these place in my neighborhood…!! Usually they’d have over 20 kinds of soba / udons to choose from (this place had twice as much). Soup would be bonito dashi based, and western Japan is famous for rich aroma of their broth (as you go east, more dark & soy sauce flavored). Usually, they’d have sets – of some rice bowl with mini udon/soba. Love the cozy feels✨
Pic 8-9: Nice Italian wine bar introduced by a chef the other night- I discovered enjoying Soave, its tea-like aroma was so nice!
Pic 10: Slide show. Unrelated to eats, but squeezing in a good luck & a visit to my favorite shrine : Kamigamo Shrine. I feel something so nice about this place✨ When the horse god is here, visitors are allowed to feed a thin slice of carrots…✨

趣のある雰囲気が大好きです。
長く地元の人に愛されていたり老舗といわれるお店・場所には、やっぱり隅々まで何かぬくもりや愛が感じられたりします。
📸1-2: 町の洋食屋さんでとんかつセット。丁寧に揚がったジューシーなとんかつに自家製デミグラスソース、カレー風味のスパゲッティサラダやキャベツのサラダの感じ、あとお味噌汁が定食についてくる点等、色々たまりませんでした。
📸3-7: 自転車で巡っていたら、良いお出汁の香りのする趣のある食堂に遭遇。店内は地元の方で賑わっていて、これまた非常に心温まる良い空間でした。メニューが充実しすぎていて＆なじみのない名前が多く、今年一番悩んでしまいました。笑 結果的に、人生初の”他人丼”、写真が心苦しいのですが、お出汁たっぷりの卵＆天かす＆薄切り牛がとろみある餡のようにご飯に乗った丼に大感動でした。こんなお店が近所にあったら、本当に最高です。。。！！(お値段にぼかしを入れたら不気味に。圧倒＆わくわくなメニュー量が伝わりましたら😂)
📸8－9: 割烹のお店の店主に教えて頂き、素敵なイタリアワインのお店にて。紅茶のような香りに心が驚くほど落ち着いたのが印象的な素敵なワイン。
📸10: 突然の上賀茂神社。広いのに何かぎゅっと詰まった素敵な場所で、大好きです。お庭の感じや手水舎の具合、建物の距離感など、すべてが心地よく感じました。あまりに心がすっとして、正しいタイミングに感じたので、新年のご祈祷を頂きました。情緒のないスライドショーで恐縮ですが、皆様にも届きますように✨
