Happy Thursday✨

Back in Japan for holiday season, and enjoying my big line of hobby – “tasting Wagashi (Traditional Japanese confectioneries)”.

This time at my favorite favorite Japanese tea shop in Tokyo.
Wagashi craftsman skillfully prepares the beautiful wagashi in front of our eyes, it’s like magic…(video after photos🎥)🪄✨✨

There are several types of wagashi- but the main three categories would be:

  1. Namagashi(生菓子)):Sweets with over 30% moisture.
  2. Han-namagashi(半生菓子):Around 10-30% .
  3. Higashi(干菓子): Dry, with under 10% moisture

All of them are super delicious, but since Namagashi has to be eaten as soon as that day / moment, I prioritize them during my limited stay.
They are usually served during the Japanese tea ceremonies, and they will resemble the seasonal nature or notions.
One resembling a seasonal flower, the other a mountain changing its color✨

By season, we have the 24 solar terms, so shops would change their lineups every half month… or at least monthly.
Beautiful culture to keep us busy😋✨
