Movie “Perfect Days”, my reflection & thoughts over mine
Back in warm Singapore, and the first thing I planned was to go watch the movie “PERFECT DAYS” by Wim Wenders at my favorite theater.
The film depicts Tokyo city & the ordinary life of a man that works as toilet cleaner – his routine, peaceful “perfect days”.
I will not go into the details, but the I was so amazed how the simple plot & can bring such rich emotion – must be the lead actors’ performance (he won the Best Actor at Cannes for this), and how Tokyo can be illustrated in such poetic and beautiful way.
Something I could relate myself to the main character along the routine lifestyle…
I just love natto. Natto is Japanese fermented soy bean, and they’re super standard national food, but I know foreign and even some Japanese people just cannot stand them with their peculiar aroma.
I’d say it’s something like blue cheese or super washed cheese.
During back home in Tokyo, I would have daily routine of natto breakfast.
And this time too- I compared the packs from various brands, and would taste the difference.
My family would think I am a bit weird, but I would not mind- it’s part of my “perfect days”.

シンガポールのお気に入り映画館で鑑賞したPERFECT DAYS、感想や連想など
シンガポールに戻り、まず最初に入れた予定は、お気に入りの映画館へ”PERFECT DAYS”(パーフェクト・デイズ)を観に行くこと。
ヴィム・ヴェンダース監督の切り取る東京が見たいし、東京の公園のトイレ清掃者に焦点を当てた映画と知り、代々木公園駅の透明なトイレに大感動したこともあり、とても楽しみにしていました。
ちなみに、映画館は、Beach Road沿い、Golden Mile Towerの５階に入っているのですが、かなりレトロで味のあるアジアンな雰囲気＆モダンな西洋風なアレンジとが効いた、大変おシャレ空間です。
ラインアップはアジア映画にかかわらずミニシアター系が多く、定期的に通っています。
ジブリの「君たちはどう生きるか」も、先日こちらで鑑賞しました。
観賞し終わってしばらくたっても、ずっと映画のことを思ってしまいます。
ラストシーンの表情、一体どんな感情があったのかも、いろいろ考えては、もっと続きが見たくなります。
映画公式ウェブサイトを訪れたら、映画にはならなかった日々の文章も読めるような（？）コンテンツがあり、気になっています。
内容には触れませんが、大好きな東京の懐かしい風景が、美しく詩的な映像で綴られていて、嬉しくなりました。
そして、穏やかなルーティンの積み重ねの与えてくれる満足感、そこに集中するからこそ得られる小さな気づきや感動の積み重ね、とても心に寄り添ってくれる世界観でした。
セリフは殆どないのに、その演技から主人公にとてつもない人間味を吹き込んだ役所広司さん、カンヌ映画祭の最優秀男優賞を受賞されたことも、とっても納得です。
主人公の日々に、自分が日々のお料理や食べることにまつわるルーティンやこだわり等・またそこに対する気づきや喜びを重ねてしまいました。
日本滞在中、私は大好きな納豆を毎朝頂き、家族に呆れられながらも、ブランドやトッピングによって変わる味わいなど楽しんでいました。
とっても平和で幸せな日々、あまりに特別です。
