  3. [travel] Fugu (Puffer Fish) experience in Osaka /

A short trip to Osaka (a city in West Japan), for a celebration gathering.

Have you heard of “Fugu”?
It’s Japanese for Puffer fish- we had a whole course all about fugu😳🐡✨

As you may know, Fugu is deadly poisonous fish, and you need very fresh fugu & licensed chef to enjoy.
In the ancient days, many people lost their life eating this fish… and in the 19th century, people started to call the fish “teppo (guns)”- by the way how it could be deadly risky.
It’s now safe, that we know how to take out poisonous parts, but it’s interesting how people kept eating such daring fish!!

Along with Grilled BBQ & Fried Fugu:

  • “Tessa/てっさ”: Teppou + sashimi, raw🐡 My most favorite way to eat fugu.
Teppou + chiri (another name for Nabe). Hot pot with Fugu and veggies
  • “ojiya/おじや”: Porridge, with left over rich broth
  • “Hirezake/ひれ酒”: Hot sake with charred fish fin, you light fire. It was mild and delicious✨
I put the video of Hirezake in the end.🐡🍶🔥
